How Marvel Should Bring The X-Men Into The MCU
1. Disney Creates An R-Rated Alternate MCU
Speaking of Deadpool, though, one of the more pressing concerns about Disney's planned acquisition of Fox is what it'll mean for their R-rated superhero properties, namely any future Deadpool sequels and the planned X-23 spin-off Laura.
Considering that Disney dabbles primarily in PG-13 rated films and the R-rated tone of these proposed films wouldn't at all mesh with the more family-friendly tenor of the MCU, it'd make a lot of sense for Disney to create a delineated subsidiary label, an adult MCU if you like, where these films can be released without harming their precious image.
With Disney already releasing R-rated movies via Touchstone Pictures and the Marvel's Netflix shows being decidedly more adult than the MCU films, there's already a precedent set. Building an alternate adult universe which can overlap with the mainline MCU via cameos every now and then feels like the right way to go.
Few people want to see a censored Deadpool wise-cracking throughout an Avengers film, but having an Avenger or two playing a supporting part in a Deadpool sequel could actually be pretty damn awesome (even more so if Disney lets their precious MCU superheroes curse).
