How Marvel Should Bring The X-Men Into The MCU
3. Avengers 5 Is The Ultimate MCU Event
MCU Phase 4 has one logical end-point, assuming that an Avengers vs. X-Men movie happens and is a big hit: a fifth Avengers film where the X-Men join the core Avengers line-up for a mega-battle against a new antagonist (presuming Thanos dies in Avengers 4).
If the film can cram all these superheroes into the mix without feeling too cluttered - though at least some of the existing MCU heroes will inevitably be gone by then - seeing the X-Men as part of the Avengers against a seemingly unstoppable alien force could basically be the ultimate superhero movie.
It's hard to imagine them topping something this potentially epic, but that's probably when Kevin Feige starts to consider what he can do with the Fantastic Four.
If this film happens it'll presumably be at the tail-end of Phase 4, so it probably won't be until at least 2022 or 2023, but with the MCU now reliably cranking out three movies a year, it'll surely be here before you know it.
