How Snoke Could Return For Star Wars Episode 9 (But Why He Shouldn't)

3. Visions, Nightmares, Or Force Ghost

Snoke could also appear in the present day, in a similar fashion to how Luke might be used in the movie. Yes, Luke will be a Force Ghost, but in more specific terms the best use for him might be as a haunting spectre for Kylo Ren, especially given his last words to his nephew: "See you around, kid."

To that end, then, Kylo - who remains conflicted - could well be seeing visions of both his mentors, one light and one dark. The movie should be delving deeper into Kylo's psyche, and that could lead to visions or nightmares of Snoke as he struggles to come to terms with his actions.

Alternatively, Snoke could appear in a more literal sense, as a variation on a Force Ghost. While this is something we've only seen Jedi accomplish so far, we know that Snoke was extremely powerful in the ways of the Force, including having powers we hadn't seen before - even opening a Force connection between Kylo and Rey - so it's not out of the question that he found a way to bring himself back after death.
