How Warner Bros. Should Have Made Justice League

3. The Supporting Cast Should Have Been Put To Better Use

JK Simmons is a class act and he was clearly having fun in the role of Gotham City's veteran law enforcer Jim Gordon, but Justice League failed miserably to justify why it included the long-time Batman ally.

The film struggled to find a use for him, a compelling reason to explain why he needed to be in the story. Not only was this a waste of an Oscar-winning actor, it's squandered screentime that could have been used to flesh out one of the main heroes instead.

Justice League also had Willem Dafoe at its disposal, an actor who's rarely anything less than entertaining, but the studio decided to cut his character Nuidis Vulko from the movie entirely, along with much of Zack Snyder's original vision.

And then there's Kiersey Clemons, who was cast as The Flash's love interest Iris West. Her inclusion could have brought out a different side of Barry Allen and built on his character. Giving more screentime to his imprisoned father (played by Billy Crudup) would have done the same.

Once again, it comes down to the problem of the movie's runtime. With another half-hour or so to play with, the filmmakers could have fashioned more meaningful roles for these supporting characters and gotten better use out of them.
