Hugh Jackman: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
2. Davis Movie 43 (2013)
In that case, it's hard not to blame Jackman. He didn't write the script, cast the characters, or make Baz Luhrmann the way he is, but he did know what he was getting himself into. It's much the same with Movie 43, a film which didn't so much have hype surrounding it as a line of journalists scratching their heads as to how so many big-name actors had been suckered into starring in it. A sketch comedy anthology film that's technically the work of a half-dozen different directors and writers, but most of the blame can be left at the door of the Farrelly Brothers (directors of Dumb And Dumber, There's Something About Mary and so on). And blame they should take, for trying to tank the careers of fine actors from Kate Winslet to Julianne Moore. And Hugh Jackman, who stars as Davis in The Catch, opposite Winslet as a single businesswoman who goes on a blind date with his seemingly dashing single man who is concealing a pair of testicles on his neck underneath a scarf. That's it. That's the joke. This is a film that got made and released.
