The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Spoilers - 13 Key Elements Revealed & Reviewed

2. District 13 Lives, District 12 Doesn't

Distrcit 12 After the revelation, Katniss is joined in her recovery room by Gale, who was also part of the rebellion (probably because Snow set fire to all of District 12 for apparently very little reason) who reveals that something terrible has happened to her home. After the Games (apparently Katniss was unconscious for a while, which makes the decision to leave her on the floor a little odd) Snow sent troops to District 12 for some retribution, and firebombed the place to the ground. Gale somberly tells Katniss that her sister and mother are fine, as he got them out of District 12, and into District 13 - which is somewhat off-handedly revealed to be still a place, despite the Capitol's assertion that it was wiped out after the uprising 75 years before hand - but that District 12 doesn't exist any more. Despite the abject poverty of the place, Katniss doesn't seem at all pleased that her home is gone, and the film ends with the sound of Coldplay lamenting things in their usual manner.
