3. Peeta & Johanna End Up Captured In The Capitol
Thanks to her sacrifice to save Katniss, Johanna ends up captured when the dome crumbles, and though Peeta appears to have completely disappeared before the lightning strikes (suggesting he was killed, as a grim cannon shot is fired in the sky) it is revealed by Haymitch that he too has been captured and taken to the Capitol. This of course sets up the events of Mockingjay, as fans of the books will be aware, and the mission to save Peeta. Haymitch and Heavensbee reveal that half of the tributes were in on the plot, explaining why one cannon fodder tribute threw herself at a monkey to save Peeta, and also why Mags so easily decided to die, and that the end goal was always to get to Katniss. It all seems a little silly, considering how difficult Heavensbee made survival, and how close both Peeta and Katniss herself came to death (and the complete lack of help Heavensbee gave them to stop their deaths - even when he could have got away with a little protection) and it feels like too much of a risk when the emotional impact of the twist dissipates somewhat.
