"If we are going to date; you may have to defeat my 7 ex-boyfriends" - SCOT PILGRIM vs. THE WORLD teaser trailer!

Billed as "the epic of epic epicness", talked up by Jason Reitman as a "game-changer" and creator Bryan O'Malley as being responsible "for giving your brain a heart attack; Edgar Wright's "Scot Pilgrim vs. The World" has finally received a teaser trailer. Smartly given it's fanboy sensibilities, the movie is attached to the U.K. prints of "Kick-Ass", released tomorrow (and handily carries a "Scot Pilgrim" reference in the movie). So now the teaser baiting and jibba-jabba is over, does the trailer live up to it's lofty expectations?

I'd say hell yes, it does. Existing as a strange mix of video game, comic book, and contemporary Japanese fantasy with an American "Michael Cera trying to get laid picture (and it looks like he does in the first reel for a change, score!)", the trailer lives up to the expectations of being something unique and unlike anything we've ever seen before. Despite the lengthier footage than expected, the trailer still feels like we are just being eased into this world at this point. However, it hits all the right beats and does a good job of setting up the universe. The action feels great, and it's kinda hard not to geek out during the lightsaber fight moments which are breathtaking. The trailer is pretty fast-paced but watch out for a slew of recognisable superhero faces (Brandon Routh, Chris Evans), along with Jason Schwartzman as the evil ex's. The trailer ends nicely on a note from Anna Kendrick. Scot Pilgrim vs. The World opens in August; and may well become "the new Kick-Ass" for weekly "countdown to release" pieces.
