In Defence Of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

3. It Didn't Ruin Wanda's Arc

Though it wasn’t how it was initially supposed to go, Wanda Maximoff opened Phase Four with undeniable success. She may have shared the title of the show with her android lover, but this was without question Wanda, and Elizabeth Olsen’s biggest chance to shine in the franchise so far.

The character went on an incredible journey, as the fallout of losing everyone she loved caused her to create her own reality, husband, and children. Grief can do horrible things to a person, and this set Wanda on the path to villainy.

Though she ultimately brought down the Hex and released her prisoners back into the world, she was embracing her powers not only as the Scarlet Witch but the owner of the Darkhold by the end of the series, and was teased to go searching for any way to be with her boys again.

For those suggesting that the Multiverse of Madness ruined Wanda’s arc, this is what she has been building towards for some time, let alone the rather on-the-nose WandaVision post-credit scene that strongly suggested there was some villainy in her future. The Doctor Strange sequel ran with this, and continued her arc with yet another superlative performance from Olsen herself.
