In Defence Of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

4. One Eye On The Future

There is no such thing as a stand-alone MCU project. Every single movie and Disney+ TV show is a piece of a much larger puzzle, and even though Moon Knight had little to no connections to the wider universe, that certainly won’t last for long.

This couldn’t be said about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Though it was most certainly a Doctor Strange movie, and would have worked as its own entity with minimal required viewing beforehand, it still took the time to set up a few potential things for the future.

The most obvious would be the setup for the continuation of Strange’s story with Clea by his side in the Dark Dimension, as well as the almost inevitable solo America Chavez project. Whether a movie or series on Disney+, the Multiverse of Madness did a great job of setting her up as a future asset to the franchise.

Then of course there is the Illuminati. With teases for the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Inhumans, as well as a rumoured Captain Carter project and limitless multiverse possibilities, this could have opened the door and started the ball rolling for so many fantastic MCU projects in the future.
