Independence Day 2: 10 Reasons Why Resurgence Might Actually Be Good

1. They're Sparing No Expense

Give credit where it's due: with a reported budget of $200 million dollars U.S., Fox is taking the John Hammond route and sparing no expense on Independence Day: Resurgence. On top of that, a comic tie-in leading up to Resurgence has been announced. Other tie-ins may also see the light of day. Does that immediately spell success? No, of course not. However, the fact that the company is comfortable approving a budget with that sort of number is a sign that they have faith in the project. It would be a much greater concern if there were talks about cutting back on costs and doing things on the cheap. Especially with Smith out of the picture, it looks as if Roland Emmerich will be able to create the film he has envisioned, without having to compromise on quality due to budgetary constraints. Meaning the success or failure of the picture will lie with the director - and that's always a preferable scenario. We'll find out soon enough. Are you excited for Independence Day: Resurgence?
