Independence Day 2: 10 Reasons Why Resurgence Might Actually Be Good

4. It's Not A Reboot

With "Cancer of the Reboot" now replacing "Sequel-itis" as the most common Hollywood disease, it's nice to see a property from years gone by getting a straight up sequel. This bodes well for the success of Resurgence, as audiences have hit peak fatigue levels with reboots. Look no further than the failed Amazing Spider-Man and most recent Fantastic Four films. Reboots are not exactly welcome these days, and studios have already begun turning back to sequels both on the big and small screens (Star Wars, The X-Files, Jurassic World, and Twin Peaks, to name a few). In short, audiences want new stories, even with familiar characters, rather than just having new actors give a different take on old favourites. And that's what Resurgence will look to deliver.
