Independence Day 2: 10 Ways To Make It Not Suck

3. Cast a Great President

woody harrelson Obviously, Bill Pullman€™s President Whitmore won€™t be in office anymore, but every good American disaster movie needs a good Commander in Chief, especially since it€™s likely that he€™ll become an important piece of the plot. Spare Morgan Freeman and Danny Glover the role, they€™ve both served their time as Head of State during a world wide calamity. Instead, if I had my say, I€™d take the best part of Emmerich's 2012 and throw him into the Oval Office. That€™s right: Woody Harrelson. He€™s got the comic timing to work with the rest of the cast, but can play serious too when he has to. He€™s done politics successfully before in Game Change, and while you don€™t really need that on your resume to play Head of State in a Roland Emmerich movie, it doesn€™t hurt. The film needs a great president regardless, but if I€™m Emmerich or Devlin, I€™m voting Harrelson into the role.
