Indiana Jones 5: 7 Theories About What Could Happen

4. Indy Will Go To Vietnam

Going back to the idea of the movie reflecting the real-life time gap between films, if Disney and Spielberg did go with this option, then Indy would find himself in 1968. So what was the big event at that time that the adventurer could get involved in? ComicsAndNoir.com theorises that if the film is set in this year, it would focus on Dr Jones travelling to Vietnam, just as the war there was escalating. This would certainly create a fresh climate to set the film against, as well as ticking off a traditional element of the franchise €“ there is always some sort of military backdrop to the films. Vietnam is also the perfect place for Indy the Archaeologist to visit. As the site above also points out, the region is culturally rich, with many Hindu and Buddhist temples, including the famous Angkor Wat. This temple has already been used as a location in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider €“ a character often seen as the female Indiana Jones. However, that movie hasn€™t really lasted, so no one would notice if the temple was used again in another archaeology-themed adventure film.
