Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny: 22 WTF Moments

6. Everybody Time Travels To 214 BC

Voller's plan to travel to 1939 goes spectacularly awry when Indy points out that Archimedes wasn't aware of the phenomenon of continental drift, and so the calculations for travelling to 1939 are actually incorrect.

Voller only appreciates this at the last minute, though, by which point the plane they're travelling in has already entered the time fissure in the sky, transporting them back not to 1939 but 214 BC, almost 2000 years prior.

Yep, the rumours were true - Indiana Jones finally did time travel.

The sequence that follows is gloriously insane, as Voller's and Teddy's planes fly through the sky during Sicily's historic Siege of Syracuse, where Roman soldiers on the ground mistake the aircraft for dragons.

As the soldiers attempt to crash Voller's plane, Klaber operates the onboard machine-gun, in what's without question the most bugnuts ridiculous set-piece in the entire Indiana Jones franchise.

In the very least, it's creative and memorable, unlike most of the movie's other action sequences.
