Interstellar: 11 Insane Spoilers Everyone Is Talking About

2. Cooper Says Goodbye To Elderly Murph & Heads In Search Of Brand

After being rescued, Cooper wakes up on a NASA space station nicknamed the Cooper Station, though named after Murph rather than himself. Cooper, now technically 124 years old, looks outside the window to see kids playing baseball, and when the batter hits a ball, it goes through the window of a house above the field rather than next to it: the topography is completely unlike anything on Earth, and the vessel appears to be shaped like an O'Neill cylinder, one of many vessels presumably housing humanity. Cooper then visits a painstakingly recreated version of his home on this new settlement, as well as TARS' robotic remains, which he gets back in working order. He then goes to visit a now-elderly Murph (played rather brilliantly by Ellen Burstyn in a disappointingly small role), keeping his promise of finally "coming back". After a bittersweet greeting and goodbye, Murph encourages him to seek out Amelia, who is still at Edmunds' planet and in the early stages of cultivating a community there. The movie ends with Cooper taking a ship, entering the wormhole and heading to meet Amelia, who in the movie's final shot is walking on the surface of Edmunds, heading towards some activity in the distance.
