8. Wes Bentley Dies On Planet 1 (Miller)

The first planet the crew visits, Miller, is a vast water body, containing what at first appear to be mountains but are, in fact, massive tidal waves. When Doyle (Wes Bentley) and Amelia attempt to recover the probe of Miller's crew (the previous team sent to the planet, hence the name), they get caught in the wave, leading to Doyle's death while Amelia very narrowly escapes, but floods the shuttle. Though Bentley's character is unfortunately not particularly well-developed during his brief appearance in the movie, his demise at least highlights the very real threat of the mission, and heightens the tension between the remaining crew members.
