4. The Major Cameos

Typically, since this is a Nolan film, the cast is packed with talent, and there are cameos for older stars who haven't necessarily been in the spotlight for a while, or who Nolan wants to pay homage to. That goes for Ellen Burstyn, who plays Old Murph and William Devane, who sits on the NASA board (and who was the President in The Dark Knight Rises). Inevitably, the biggest cameo has already been spoiled thanks to IMDB, who revealed early that Matt Damon appears unexpectedly as Dr Mann, the marooned scientist who tricks the Endurance crew into rescuing him under the pretence of having found a new planet for humanity.
