The Bombastic Bag Man was originally a disguise used by Peter Parker after being separated from the alien symbiote who would go on to become Venom, with Johnny Storm lovingly providing an older version of a Fantastic Four costume, a paper bag and a complementary 'kick me' sign on his back while he swang back home. The identity was also used during the aptly-titled Identity Crisis arc, which forced Parker back into the mantle in another instance where his costume was out of reach.

So, yeah, Bag Man isn't exactly a separate character to the original Spider-Man, yet with infinite realities available to explore, it's more than possible that in one of them, Pete went a bit insane and kept this utterly brilliant persona alive.

And, after seeing Miles interact with both a younger, practically perfect Parker, plus also an older, tired one, surely insane is the next way to go?
