Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus Review - 8 Ups & 1 Down

1. Finally! More Zim!

Just a few years ago, the prospect of Invader Zim making its way back to screens seemed like little more than a pipe dream. As such, the fact that Enter the Florpus exists at all is something to be celebrated in and of itself. (Even if we didn't get to see Zim foro his mission to become a Daredevil-esque public legal defender.)

Ever since the original show's cancellation, Invader Zim as a franchise has endured in other forms. Namely, the exceptionally fun Oni Press comic book series, as well as an admittedly copious amount of Hot Topic merchandise. A feature film marking the return of the original cast, however, is an entirely different beast.

While the film isn't really intended as the series finale the show never got -- a fact Vasquez has been very clear on -- it does certainly watch like one at times, at least to an extent. On the other hand, by more or less restoring the status quo, the film also leaves the door open for an all new season, should Nickelodeon decide to give it another go.

This creates a Schrodinger's Cat-type situation. If Enter the Florpus leads to more Invader Zim episodes, fantastic. However, even if it doesn't, it can still easily be seen as a finale of sorts that sends Zim and company off on a high note.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Invader Zim. But right now, Enter the Florpus is here and can't be taken away.
