Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus Review - 8 Ups & 1 Down
3. Justice For Dib
Dib Membrane is an easy character to sympathize with. While it can certainly be good morbid fun to root for Zim and Gir in most Invader Zim episodes, you'd be hard pressed to not feel at least a little bit bad for Dib.
Generally speaking, Dib is the only character to know and care that Zim is an alien bent on human destruction. However -- seemingly as a result of crying wolf one too many times, no one around him believes him -- despite the fact that he's actually right.
Dib's eccentricities have resulted in him being shunned and ridiculed by his peers. Perhaps even worse, his own father frequently dismisses what Dib has to say, even when he actually has a valid point to make.
In Enter the Florpus, Dib is ultimately still unsuccessful in proving the truth to the masses. However, at long last, he does manage to win the approval of his father, with the Membrane family turning over a new leaf in their relationship by the time the credits roll.
Dib's case is obviously an extreme. Nevertheless, this development is sure to be a cathartidae one for fans, as well strike a chord with viewers who have found themselves dealing with a Cassandra complex-like situation.
