Invader Zim: Enter The Florpus Review - 8 Ups & 1 Down

2. It Feels Like A Movie (Not An Extended Episode)

All too often, movies based on popular cartoons fall into the trap of being more like really long episodes, as opposed to genuine cinematic experiences -- especially when it comes to made for TV movies. Fortunately, this is not the case with Enter the Florpus.

Make no mistake, this is no mere 45-minute special like the also great Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling. This is a full-blown hour plus ride that truly earns its title as an Invader Zim movie. The animation goes all out, the humor pulls no punches and, above all, the stakes feel so much bigger than they ever have in the before. In other words, Enter the Florpus went the way of Ed Edd n Eddy's Big Picture show, rather than, say, Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo.

Granted, the status quo is more or less restored by the time all is said and done (a point will return to in a moment.) Still, the words "Invader Zim revival movie" come with some pretty hefty expectations in terms of just how major things are going to feel. Expectations the final product certainly met.
