9. Pepper Potts Dies
It was rumoured from the start that someone would be biting the bullet in Iron Man 3, and given the seemingly dark nature of the story, it totally makes sense. What easier way is there to drive Tony Stark to the brink and then back to action than by killing the one he loves? It is the perfect way to make his enemies seem even more menacing than ever, and most assumed that Pepper would likely be buying the farm during The Mandarin's attack on Tony's home. But it seems that Pepper does not die either. Several IMDB users have corroborated the fact that in the final showdown with Killian, it is teased that Pepper dies by falling into a fire, but because she is infected with the Extremis virus, she survives the fire damage and seems to be OK.
