Iron Man 3: 10 Things That 100% Don't Happen

5. Happy Hogan Dies

Iron Man 3 Jon Favreau Here's one of the more realistic prospects of Iron Man 3. Here's a character who audiences wouldn't be devastated by his death, but at the same time he's the comic relief and so his death would help cement the idea that this was a dark Iron Man film with very high stakes. Plus, with Jon Favreau not directing the film, there's an amusing symbolism to his character getting violently killed by an insurgent villain. Near the start of Iron Man 3, The Mandarin blows up the Chinese Theatre (this much we can deduce from looking at the trailers), and reports suggest that Happy Hogan is caught in that blast, but he doesn't die. He is hospitalised and then disappears out of the film completely until the very end, when we discover that he did survive.
