6. Guy Pearce's Role Is Just A Cameo
Props to Guy Pearce for being sly on this one. Throughout countless interviews, he's insisted that his role as Aldrich Killian is simply an extended cameo, and of course, Ben Kingsley's The Mandarin is the main bad guy. This appears to have all been in the service of the big surprise that, if Twitter reports can be believed, Guy Pearce is in fact the main villain and far from a mere glorified cameo, while The Mandarin is in fact secondary, and Marvel have a very special trick up their sleeve with his character that fanboys will not see coming (and might even get enraged at). While it's easy to believe that a high-profile actor like Pearce might take the noble cameo route like he has before (biting the bullet in the first few minutes of The Hurt Locker, for instance), it was merely a trick to stop us from discovering the film's twist, that Killian is in fact calling the shots from the start.
