Iron Man 3: 5 Reasons Tony Stark Is More Human Than Superhero

1. His Relationship With Pepper

A large part in how Tony has changed is due to the committed relationship he is in with Pepper. Over the course of the previous Iron Man films and briefly in The Avengers, the relationship between them has changed. In Iron Man 3, due to his struggles and because of how much he cares for Pepper, Tony chooses to be more upfront with Pepper when he tells her that the battle in The Avengers has changed him and that he is concerned that he cannot protect her. The humor that is usually present during their interactions is not the primary emotion that is evident. Instead, there is more sincerity and vulnerability, particularly from Tony, because of how important Pepper is to him. Audiences can fully comprehend how important Pepper is to Tony because he is more serious and direct with her rather than being humorous. There are still light-hearted moments between them but given the tone of the film and the change in Tony's behavior, there is a sense that Tony completely realizes what he has with Pepper and how he does not want to lose it. Another example of how much he cares about Pepper is when he leaves a message for her when he is in Tennessee. During the message, Tony shows how he has become completely accountable for his actions and how he values having Pepper in his life. Tony realizes without having Pepper in his life, he would not be the man he is, which explains the purpose of how Tony Stark has grown as a person in Iron Man 3. So what do you think?
