One of the most frustrating and inexplicable things about Iron Man 3 was the fact that Tony Stark so easily had the arc reactor removed from him chest. It had previously been stated that it was there because it had to be - it was preventing shrapnel that had entered his body during the events in Afghanistan in the first Iron Man movie from entering his heart - and yet, without any form of explanation or exploration, Stark had it removed as if it was a simple procedure that he could have had performed on him at any point. Granted, it has been suggested that Stark may have utilised Aldrich Killian's Extremis treatment to allow the procedure to take place, but this at least needs to be specified so that we have a definitive explanation as to why the procedure was so nonchalantly occurring despite previous suggestions and belief that it was impossible.
