Is The Han Solo Movie In More Trouble Than We Thought?

7. A Megalomaniac Studio Head?

There's a serious danger that Kathleen Kennedy comes out of this situation being painted as some sort of power-crazed villain. According to the "official" line being published by THR, Kennedy was the driving force behind the creative change at the top of Han Solo.

She might have initially tried to bring in a shadow director - in the shape of Lawrence Kasdan - and tried to keep Miller and Lord in place, but it was ultimately her finger that pulled the trigger. That THR picture, more tellingly, paints a picture of a studio head trying to teach her directors how to do their job, interfering with their proven method and causing unnecessary friction.

Or at least that's what a cynical reading of it would suggest.

Is It Really All That Concerning?

The reality is that Kennedy knows Star Wars, knows that her job is to protect the Star Wars brand and knows what is best for her studio's films. She is an incredible judge of movies, with a CV that speaks for itself and to a certain extent, if she felt something was wrong, something was probably wrong.

And if she's impossible to work for, as some will inevitably extrapolate from this, how come Rian Johnson has seemingly managed it?
