Is The Han Solo Movie In More Trouble Than We Thought?

3. The Fired Editor

Miller and Lord weren't the only ones removed from the project before Ron Howard was hired: editor Chris Dickens was also fired as the production moved from London to the Canary Islands.

Beyond that, the information specifically related to his firing is notably absent (other than a note that Kennedy visited Dickens to see how the dailies were meshing together before he was fired). Could it be that he was another casualty of Kennedy's perception that what she was seeing was not a Star Wars movie?

Is It Really All That Concerning?

Dickens is an Academy Award winning editor and he has a proven track record in a lot of huge projects, but without knowing WHY he was fired it's hard to tell what his removal really means for the film. A great editor is both one of the most valuable and one of the most unappreciated elements on any film, which is part of their curse, and frankly, there's no saying what he could have done with Han Solo.

Getting upset about him leaving - and that's definitely happening as it is held up as an added indication of the "troubled" production - is a little odd. And they've already brought in a great replacement in Scalia.
