Isle Of Dogs Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs

2. Alexandre Desplat's Superb Musical Score

Composer Alexandre Desplat won his very first Oscar for scoring Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel, and it's entirely possible he'll score at least a nomination next year for his utterly spellbinding work on this movie.

Making fantastically intense use of drums, Desplat delivers a highly unconventional score like nothing else he's turned in before, far away from the gentler stylings he's typically known for.

While these hard-hitting compositions are simpler and more stripped-down then his sweeping orchestral work, they do a marvellous job accentuating the already palpable mood.

Guaranteed, you'll want to listen to the score and start drumming away on your knees as soon as you leave the cinema.
