That unsettling scene where the Losers are watching films on a projector only to have their session interrupted when one of the actresses turns into Pennywise evokes Stephen King's novella The Sun Dog.
The story, which features in the Four Past Midnight collection, centres on a cursed Polaroid camera which produces pictures of a mysterious dog that looms closer to the viewer with every shot.
In case the reference was too subtle for you, Pennywise even barks like a dog in this scene to flat-out tell us the parallel is no coincidence.
