It Chapter 1 & 2: Every Monster Explained & Ranked

10. The Headless Boy

It Headless boy

Back in the first movie, Ben's time in the library doesn't end with the creepy librarian in the background. It all gets a lot more scary than that.

After seeing the removed head of a child exploded into the highest branches of a tree, Ben's studies are then interrupted - inevitably - by a single red balloon, floating tauntingly and hauntingly into the library as he watches on aghast.

Because this is a horror movie, Ben then follows the balloon into the archives of the library, which means he gets everything he deserves. That comes in the form of the rest of the dead child, which walks drunken-like down the stairs after him and lurches towards him. It's a particularly chilling sequence from the first movie and the effects are vastly better than some of the stuff in the sequel.
