5. The Movie Theatre Marquee

The movie theatre in the heart of Derry obviously plays a key role in Richie's story, but it's also at the heart of the story in the novel too, so it's fitting that a couple of Easter Eggs are linked to it.

For instance, in the 1988 setting, the marquees above the front door advertise a number of period movies. The most notable is Nightmare Of Elm Street 5: Dream Warriors, which has obviously been chosen because of the thematic links to It. After all, they're both about killing supernatural monsters that conjure nightmares. It's also no accident that the cafe next to it is called Dreamers.

More cleverly, in the future setting, with the cinema closed, the marquee reads "Thanks for the memories, Derry." Not only is that ironic, in that Derry literally steals people's memories when they leave, but the message is falling off slightly, so some of the letters are missing, as if to reflect the idea of damaged memory too.
