3. Tom Cruise & Cobie Smulders' Chemistry

The one unequivocal success of Never Go Back is that Tom Cruise and Cobie Smulders are a great pairing: they have a fun push-and-pull with one another, and it can even be argued that Smulders ends up overshadowing the leading man with her sassy, no-bulls***, bada** performance as a soldier falsely accused of espionage.

The pair just about manage to carry the film through scenes that without their combined presence wouldn't play anywhere near as well, and above all else it proves that Smulders really needs to get an action franchise of her own, or at least get more roles in the genre. Even when she's strangling a guy twice her size to death, she's totally convincing.
