2. The Double Denim Look (Live and Let Die)
Is there ever an age when double denim is a good idea? Roger Moore has a go in Live And Let Die and, while he doesn't look as bad as Rick Parfitt, it's a close run thing. To be honest, poor Roger struggles sartorially throughout much of his first mission, dressed like an undertaker when he goes to Harlem, but things really go wrong when he goes to Jamaica to track down Dr Kananga. Roger was already in his forties when he became Bond so there's always a rather uncomfortable age gap between him and his younger leading ladies. In Live And Let Die, Bond dresses as if he's having a mid-life crisis by wearing lots of tight t-shirts. In a bid to impress first Rosie Carver and then Solitaire, this desperation results in the aforementioned double denim monstrosity. It's not even really denim! What makes it even better/worse is that he decides to wear the flimsiest low necked white vest with it, giving him the appearance of a rent boy who should have quit over a decade before. Of all Roger Moore's Bond fashion disasters, this is by far the most noteworthy.
