Dr. No hit cinemas in 1962 and heralded the cinematic introduction of the famous spy, created by Ian Fleming. Sean Connery was the face of the series, playing Bond in what would become his typically surly style. However, to be honest, the opening credits to Dr. No are still a bit weird. They're basically just made up of a black screen with a load of dots that appear and disappear on the screen. Seriously, there are loads of dots. This all makes for a rather bizarre experience, but they clinch a place on this list by virtue of what comes just before. It seems crazy to us now that cinema audiences would not have been familiar with this, but this really was the first time that we had seen the now-iconic sequence that begins every Bond movie. We view Bond down the barrel of a gun: he walks into shot and shoots on the turn as blood seeps across the screen.
