1. Vesper Lynd - Eva Green - Casino Royale
Ah, Vesper Lynd. Hold your disappointment for a second and forget the fact that she isn't exactly a deadly killing machine and think about exactly what she meant for not only Bond, but also the entire series of films. But we'll start with her temperament anyway, Vesper isn't a killer, at one point during Casino Royale she helps Bond to disarm Steven Obanno during a fight on a stairwell which ends with Bond throttling and killing Obanno. Shortly after this, Bond finds Vesper sat in her running shower, tears across her face and an intense feeling of guilt for her part in Obanno's death, despite the fact that if there really are any people in the world that deserve to die, he would more than likely have been one of them. This not only proves that she is actually a very moral and caring woman and, in fact, supposedly the opposite of deadly and a strange addition to the number 1 spot of this list, but it is what happens next that is the most telling, Bond doesn't immediately enter the shower and seduce her, he sits down beside her, leans her head on his shoulder, and kisses the metaphorical blood away from her hands. If it all sounds romantic or even melodramatic, remember this is James Bond we are talking about, the man who doesn't miss a chance to bed a woman no matter what the circumstances. I'm sure you all now the twist at the climax of Casino Royale that reveals Vesper was coerced into working for Quantum the whole time, after believing they had kidnapped her lover Yusef, although it is revealed in Quantum of Solace that Yusef was in fact an agent of Quantum who would regularly seduce high-ranking women like Vesper, before getting 'kidnapped' as the women are forced to become double agents to secure his freedom. Vesper eventually steals the money that Bond won in the Poker game in exchange for Bond's life, after she realises that he is truly in love with her and has already resigned from MI6 to be with her, before locking herself into a collapsing building to drown, kissing Bond's hands just like he kissed hers before, vindicating him of any guilt in her death. In reality, this is the real reason she is the deadliest Bond girl, she broke Bond, her betrayal leaving him in a tailspin that is the exact reason he now beds and leaves countless woman over the course of every Bond film, she was most likely the only woman he ever truly loved (With the exception of the aforementioned Tracy) and her deception can be seen as the point in which he truly became James Bond, the cynical super agent who feared no-one and acted like he had nothing to live for, indeed the fact that she committed suicide to save his life left him the cold-hearted, ruthless killer we all know and love today. In truth, emotional wounds really are much deadlier than physical scars, something Bond knows all too well.
What do you think? Any deadly Bond girls that haven't made this list? Who would your deadliest Bond girl be? Let me know in the comments section below.
