James Bond: 10 Potential Spin-Offs And How They Would Work

In many ways, James Bond films are very similar to superhero films. I mean, Bond may not have any superpowers (though you could argue his ability to get shot/stabbed/beaten to a senseless pulp and swiftly recover is fairly super) but the narrative of his movies are comparative: cartoon villains, massive, malevolent plots to ruin the world, and of course the knowledge of the hero's inevitable victory.

Looking at Bond through that lens, have you ever wondered what his version of “The Avengers” would be? While Skyfall brilliantly marked the series' fiftieth anniversary, imagine if things had been a little different. Bond fans are fortunate that the vast majority of the actors who've played him across the years are still alive. Why not do a one-off movie that brings together every living actor who has previously played the character?

That might sound a lot like something out of Doctor Who, but does anyone actually care? How much fun would it be to see Pierce Brosnan interacting with Roger Moore and Timothy Dalton (perhaps somebody could convince Sean Connery to briefly exit retirement).

The whole thing could have a comedy bent, with each actor vying to outdo the others. It doesn't have to make sense narratively (I mean, James Bond rarely does). They don't even have to be acting as the same character: just give us a geri-action thriller about a bunch of retired spies insisting on the brilliance of their past glory, demanding the young Daniel Craig treat them with respect.

And the villain? A team "best of" team of previous franchise baddies.
