2. Blofeld Died
As we may recall, Bond finally disposed of his arch-nemesis via a short helicopter ride and a large chimney (during which Bond says "Keep your hair on", just to back up my previous point). This may be seen as an obstacle for the writers, but really, it's an opportunity to go back to basics with Blofeld and explore several different ways of bringing him back. For a start, it may not have been him 007 killed, as his identity had to remain obscure for legal reasons. Alternatively he may have survived the chimney incident, considering he seemingly survived the oil rig explosion in Diamonds Are Forever. Perhaps he became terribly disfigured, decided to have plastic surgery, and he got a sex change. Okay, maybe that's a little far-fetched... or is it? In the novels, Blofeld is known to change appearance: one minute he's massively overweight, the next he's pretty thin, and he does undergo plastic surgery. Imagine being Blofeld: Bond thinks you're dead the last thing he's going to expect is that you're now a woman. And if you're imagining Mrs. Doubtfire, and think Blofeld as a woman is more of a comic target than before, then remind yourself of Silence of the Lambs and Dressed to Kill. It can be seriously sinister, people.
