James Bond Films: Ranking Best To Worst

22. Diamonds Are Forever

Another boring entry with a bond who well overstayed his welcome. Charles Gray is not a good Blofeld in my honest opinion, the girls here are not interesting (the less said about Bambi and Thumper, the better€), and Connery looks old here- see the similarities with A View To A Kill? Now, granted I like the beginning a lot, but after On Her Majesty€™s Secret Service, this is a case of one step forward and three steps back. We€™re back to old tricks, nothing has changed or evolved. Whilst I can€™t blame Connery, as Lazenby decided not to continue (a mistake I wish he hadn€™t made because he had a lot of potential), there€™s nothing innovative or memorable about this film bar Shirley Bassey€™s theme tune and the name Plenty O€™Toole. Be honest, what do you remember from it when you caught it on ITV on a Sunday afternoon? And the worst thing about it for me were Mr. Wint & Mr. Kidd. They always creeped me out on a Jimmy Savile level, and felt like something from Topsy & Tim or Mr. Benn by constantly referring to each other by their titles- it€™s the worst example of homoeroticism in a series rife with it. They really don€™t deserve any more article space, even though they proved to be vaguely more interesting than the main villain! It€™s a damp squib of an ending to the Blofeld trilogy€
