James Franco & Anne Hathaway to front Oscars 2011

James Franco and Anne Hathaway have been chosen to deliver the flagship movie industry awards show in February next year, a move that probably discounts either from taking home the golden statue next year for their performances in 127 Hours and Love and Other Drugs respectively. No Oscar host should, or ever will win the top prizes. Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer gushed;
€œJames Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons, fresh exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27th, we are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that."
As always, the event will be a four hour live showcase of their talents, which I hope extends to delivering poorly written comedy exchanges, stage managed ribbing and awkward flirtation. All punctuated by the odd stilted musical number and the €˜who died recently€™ list. Sadly, we€™ve seen two more added to that list today. Franco€™s career seems to be flying at the moment but in regards to Hathaway - the jury is out for me on her. She has always just seemed to be what I might expect to see if I looked in a fun house mirror at Julia Roberts.

Neil Upton hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
