5. Lieutenant General Miller - In The Loop
A movie spinoff of the hugely successful British political satire, In the Thick of it, Gandolfini plays Lieutenant General Miller, Senior Military Assistant to the Secretary of Defense. For the majority of the film Gandolfini is well within his comfort zone, playing an almost stereotypical U.S military commander, however the real treat of this production comes in his altercation with Peter Capaldis Malcolm Tucker. While relatively unknown across the pond, Tucker has become a television legend in the UK for his expletive ridden rants. His confrontation with General Miller for an understated series of threats, innuendo and insults is simply a joy to behold.
