James Wan: Ranking His Films From Worst To Best

4. Death Sentence

31death 600 This is a very different entry as something out there (maybe the unanimous failure of Dead Silence and inability to break away from being known as the guy who created Saw) caused James Wan to try something completely new. Death Sentence was a mostly failed attempt at a revenge story, often containing extremely gratuitous violence with graphic dismemberment. In other words, the film offers an interesting premise based on morality when ruthlessly protecting your family at any cost, but any point it was trying to make got lost in how overblown it all is. http://youtu.be/RVdWq9jxejI The movie did have a strong cast though with Kevin Bacon and John Goodman. It€™s just a shame they weren€™t really given any opportunity to shine in some capacity. At its best, Death Sentence is B level action trash, but despite that I actually found it entertaining to watch.
