James Wan: Ranking His Films From Worst To Best

5. Dead Silence

Dead Silence Shot 21 600x300 James Wan was white hot after directing Saw but rather than helming the bazillion sequels (He only served as an Executive Producer on the next three installments before completely cutting his ties from the franchise), he decided to whip up a whole new disturbing backstory behind a whole new creepy doll; this time a ventriloquist doll dubbed Billy. Afterwards, I assume he kicked himself and ended up regretting not just directing Saw sequels because well€ Dead Silence is actually pretty lame and cliché horror. http://youtu.be/8b_HVtHmK30 The doll itself is genuinely creepy looking and aesthetically designed with passion but everything surrounding it doesn€™t fit together into an entertaining experience. There were no likeable characters or a carefully constructed mystery, just tropes, laughable dialogue, and cheap scares.
