Easily the most high-profile of all the stars to emerge from the hit TV show Friends, this is the role that made Aniston a household name overnight, with her Rachel Green slowly transforming from a rather spoiled, self-involved sort into a more relatable type over the course of the series.

She's best remembered for her on-off relationship with Ross (David Schwimmer), which came to define much of the tension of the show's final season especially, as audiences wondered whether they would actually get together for good or not (shock: they did).

Also, the show helped Aniston become a fashion icon, with her famous haircut being dubbed "The Rachel" and being (poorly) imitated by women the world over. It is easily Aniston's most award-friendly role, winning her an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, though for my money, it's not quite her best work...
