1. Truman Burbank - The Truman Show
Regarded as the role that truly demonstrated Carrey's dramatic aplomb in the first place, his turn as Truman Burbank in The Truman Show revolves around a man who lives as an unaware star of a reality TV show. His life unfolds inside a giant studio with thousands of cameras, actors and technicians colluding to keep the ruse up and broadcast it to billions out in the real world. Slowly, Truman begins to discover the truth, and the result is Carrey's best performance to date. This may very well be the most likeable character that Carrey has ever played; there's not a touch of the creepiness of Lloyd Christmas, but rather a genuinely noble, sweet if naive young man, who we're pushed to root for simply because of the moral repugnance of his treatment as a test subject.
