Joker Solo Movie: 10 Origin Stories It Could Adapt

4. The War Veteran Theory

Although Heath Ledger's acclaimed Joker from The Dark Knight just wants to watch the world burn, some fans are convinced he once fought to make it a better place.

In what is literally one of the most convincing fan theories you'll ever hear, it has been claimed that the Clown Prince of Crime is a military veteran who was driven to madness by the horrors of war.

There are compelling pieces of evidence strewn throughout the Christopher Nolan movie, from the villain's tactical prowess to his skills with firearms and explosives.

But if you're still not convinced there's that line about nobody caring if "a truckload of soldiers" is blown up because it's "all part of the plan", but everyone losing their minds over a death threat on "one little old mayor".

Doesn't that sound like a veiled reference to the establishment's disregard for human life on the battlefield? Okay, so it's the ravings of a madman, but it's feasible that something more lies beneath the surface. This is Nolan, after all.

The internet would lose its collective mind if the Joker solo film rubber stamped this theory by depicting the character as a military man who falls from grace. Okay, so he'd lose some of his enigmatic qualities, but it would be awesome all the same.
