Joker Solo Movie: 10 Origin Stories It Could Adapt
3. The Further Adventures Of The Joker
Martin H. Greenberg's anthology The Further Adventures of the Joker may be an out-of-continuity offering, but it tables ideas that beg further exploration.
Chief among them is the theory that Mister J's psychosis stretches back to his childhood, rather than being the result of a botched robbery and a vat of chemicals.
One of the anthology's stories depicts a young Joker with serial killer tendencies, who kills rodents and birds and turns their remains into creepy art projects.
Anchoring the tale is an abusive father - a theme that is recurrent in the Joker's many backstories - and the role he plays in the creation of a young Clown Prince.
Although it's unlikely the Joker movie will adapt a non-canon anthology story from more than two decades ago, ideas such as the daddy issues and early-age psychosis could be incorporated into its tapestry of criminal insanity.
