2. The Three Jokers Conspiracy
The DC Rebirth reboot arrived with the mother of all aces up its sleeve - the revelation that there are not one, but three Jokers at large in the DC universe.
As the story is still unfolding, it's unclear whether this means the villain is a trio of different men, three versions of the same guy from alternate universes, or something else entirely.
But it's a mystery that has the world's greatest detective stumped. "No, that's not possible," says the Dark Knight when the Mobius Chair drops the almighty bombshell.
Given that The Joker film is expected to be "grounded", it seems unlikely that the filmmakers will introduce metaphysical elements like these, although there could be some kind reference to the wider DC multiverse since that's the way things are going.
There may even be a possibility of adapting this source material in a grounded way, positioning The Joker as a symbol like Christopher Nolan did with Batman. That way, others could inherit the identity to maintain an ongoing rein of terror in Gotham.
