Jude Law: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

2. Will Francis - Breaking And Entering (2006)

Breaking And Entering Jude Law It's hard to judge an actor's performance out of context: that's to say, if a movie is really bad, it's hard to think of any of the performances inherent to it as being "good." And so it is with Breaking And Entering, a poor and long-winded film, and one which doesn't do Jude Law (or his career) an favours. This 2006 drama re-teamed Law with Anthony Minghella, who previously directed him to two Oscar nominations. Unfortunately, lightning didn't strike for the third time: "Maybe Jude Law should take some time off from acting," wrote reviewing critic Peter Howell. Clumsy in all the ways that a movie might be when it's dealing with social issues and class warfare (yawn), Jude Law phones it in as a broody architect who's having trouble at home with wife and kids, and is poised with the bizarre task of renovating a bad London neighbourhood - this, in turn, leads him to Vera Farmiga, who plays a prostitute (and yes, she does have a heart of gold). The only interesting thing about all this, then, is that the film also stars Martin Freeman, which means - uh-huh - there are occasionally two Dr. Watsons in the same scene.
